Ive done my share of searching on this, yet I am unable to come to a consensus as what to get. Everyone seems to recommend fel-pro's, yet at the same time all i read about is people having to replace them due to leaks/blown gaskets.

Im aiming for a one time job here, im willing to spend a little extra so that i dont have to go replacing them 4 months after the install. Also, id appreciate any links to good prices on them

I have installed two sets now and have used the factory metal gaskets, they won't blow out like the cheap gaskets they send with headers. I installed them dry, but you can use copper coat for extra insurance.

 

I second the factory gaskets. I installed mine dry. No leaks when I pulled the headers out after 1.5 years of being on there.

yes you could get them through gmpartsdirect, but no i don't have the part number. Best bet would be to call the dealer and get it from them, i will let you know that they are sold individually so you will have to get two of them.

 

ok, i think i can handle that, thanks. just one more question for ya. how did they cost you? im trying to estimate my total expense by adding all these little things up in a spreadsheet, cause i dont have the dough to order all this yet. (but i want a perfected gameplan for when that time comes)

 

I used the Fel-pro 1406's on my LT1 cars, and I never had a problem with them.

 

anyone else know the part # or how much they cost?

 

I plan on using the Percys Dead Soft Aluminum gaskets, ive heard some good things about them and they seem to be a quality piece. But I dont have experience.
