What happened to my power?

Hey guys, I'm kinda frustrated. My car (96 Z Auto w/ cutout) has been running pretty bad for the last few months. It backfires and bogs at low rpms and at WOT. Also, at low rpms w/ the gas held steady (especially up hills) it will bog/surge and lose power. Should I change the plugs? If so, should I get someone else to (how much?) or spend a day doing it myself? Thanks.

can do i couple of things tb might dirty, clean the map sensor, if your plugs are old change them, wires to, do the basic stuff, fuel filter ect, ect, do the plugs yrself, labor charges can be anywhere from 150 to 200 bucks to have a dealer do them

I had the same symptoms and it was my coil. Try replacing that first.

I would definetely do the plugs/wires/coil first. But even before that pull your coil wire to check for a white powder (corrosion) I have seen that mess cars up numberous times. Seems pretty common...
