my car has been actin kinda screwy for the past couple of weeks. i figured it was plug wires, so i ordered some.
today i was driving it, and it started bucking all over the place like it was jumping spark. it was kind of sporadic so i kept going. got to where i was goin and left it sitting for 90 minutes. came back out and it started fine, drove fine for about 10 miles. than the bucking started again. only this time it was constant. i drove it like this for 30 miles or so til i got to some hills. it was really working hard to get up the hills. so when i got to the top, i put it in neutral cuz it was still working hard. i had the cruise on when i put it into neutral. while i was coasting down the other side of the hill it was fine, but once i started losing speed it went nuts. started free revving. only hit 3K or so before i shut it down. it still starts but i cant get more than 1k out of it.
feels like its jumping spark big time. like its way out of time.

optispark, rotor, or timing chain?

would i be better off buying the cap & rotor from autozone or just getting a new optispark from jason or dal?

car has 137K on it.

 

Sounds like the opti.Replace the whole thing,not just the cap and rotor.

 

Well, those are the same symptoms mine showed when my Opti went bad. My car would rine fine for 15 minutes or so and then start missing real bad, causing the car to buck.

 

well i just went out and started it. started a little hard. it revved just fine though.
there is a consistent miss throughout the RPM range. probably plug wire there. but a plug wire wouldnt be causing all the other stuff.
almost sounds like a coil. runs fine while its cool, than when it gets warm its jumping spark everywhere.

 

how much for a new opti from dal or jason c?
i can get one for 250 plus 20 shipping elsewhere. would dal or jason be cheaper?

 

would dal or jason be cheaper than 270 shipped?

if i ordered from dal or jason, would i get a warranty?

 

somebody must have some answers...

 

I think they come with a one year warranty.The price sounds about the same.Give em a call and see what they say.
