What happened??

Last week I was leaving school and I started up my car let it warm up for a little while and left the parking lot. all of a sudden my car started shaking and my engine died. I thought i was out of gas so I called up a friend and put gas into it and it still didn't start. I wound up getting it towed up and my dad looked at it but he's been busy for the past few days and is finally going to look at it better tommorow. It started but it stays from 0-200rpms. It sounds like it's starving for fuel. What do you guys think it could be?
Thanks.

The check engine light stays on and thats about it for the lights on the dash. Would it do this if someone put something in my gas tank. There are alot of kids at school that are very jellous, last week some girls car got $3k+ worth of damage done to it in the parking lot.

If someone put something in your tank you should get a locking gas cap, and the fuel filter should stop most things from getting all the way to the injectors hopefully.
