what haplpened to my car?

alright guys here's the situation. I've got 3 200 pounds guys in my 96 z28. We're coming up a slight grade. I'm driving about 10 mile an hour in first gear and i punch it. I wind it out and go to second staying on the gas. I then come up on the rear of another car and have to slow down. When i go to shift into third my car comes to a stop. It won't go anywhere in any gear. It makes a noise that sounds kinda like a machine gun going off like tu tu tu tu tu tu tu tu. It makes this noise even when the clutch is pushed in and i'm going through the gears. It idles fine in neutral. We had to push the car up the hill as it won't go anywhere in any gear. Does anybody know whats wrong with my car. Thanks

Where is the noise coming from the front or the rear? Your clutch may be toast, or you must have broken in your driveline.

How steep was the hill. This might sound funny but the same thing happened to a friend of mine and he was just low on gas.

Your rear-end is most likely okay, and I will assume your driveshaft is not dangling on the ground.

I am going to vote for a toast clutch here, can go out in and out of a gear? Are you sure that when you do, that you are engaging the gear. If there is no load, and just revs when in gear, it is mostly likely your cluthc is not clamping.

Sounds like you busted more than your cluth. If you are not stalling out when in gear, it means your clutch is not engaging.

Does it grind if you try to engage a gear without using the clutch?

the noise that its making kinda sounds like that noise when your trying to put your car in reverse and it makes that grinding noise. except its quite a bit louder. could i really burn the clutch out on one hard takeoff?

not burn, probably broke (as in fingers broke). You did a powershift right. You shifted to third, withough letting go of the gas......
