What are good compression test results?
Search for the post "Mystery Miss" for background on my problem...a missfire/cutting out problem. Don't want to get into the whole thing again here but suffice to say I think I have narrowed it down to engine internals.
I have not had a chance to compression test the passenger side since I basically have to pull the header to do it, but the driver's side results are:
#1 = 210psi
#3 = 210 psi
#5 = 210 psi
#7 = 195 psi
Now, normally 195 would be a good reading, but keep in mind this is an 11:1 CR car, not stock 10.5:1 15psi down amounts to about 8%, and the #7 cylinder runs a lot richer and not as hot at the header as the others.
Car does not burn any oil or smoke however, so I think I must have compression rings going bad with a still-good oil control ring.
So how good is 195psi? I am thinking its is decent but not great given my CR.
