What goes in this hole? (Front of Intake Manifold)

Underneath the throttle body on the front of the intake manifold (in the center) there's a connector of some sort. It's just behind the top of the water pump, see in this pic:

However, I can't find it in my Haynes or factory service manuals. Can you guys tell me what that is that connects there?

That sounds reasonable... I hadn't looked where that PCV hose went to yet. I'll go make sure that makes sense and based on Compstall's post, some just delete the PCV valve and hose?

Is there any reason to remove it? I always thought they were actually one of the few good emissions control devices that didn't hurt anything...

Yes, it is for the PCV vacuum on 1995 and later. Best to leave the PCV working, IMO.

Yup, you guys were dead-on and I hooked PCV back up. I took this thing apart 8 months ago any my memory is bad.

Thanks again for shoebox's info page and his replies!

Read what Shoebocx typed. The "95 and later" engines use the port under the throttle body for PCV vacuum. On the 93 and 94 cars (yours), the hole is plugged up, and the vacuum is supplied via the u-bend hose that reconnects into the side of the manifold.

That is the fresh air feed for the CCV/PCV system. There is no PCV in the RH valve cover.

hmmmmm. I know what PCV stands for but I never thought about what it means. If thats just a fresh air feed than is thier any benefit in putting a valve cover breather in its place ? Instead of having it vent into the t/b like it does ?

Re: What goes in this hole? (Front of Intake Manifold)

no, did a little search earlier and a valve cover breather will be one big vaccum leak. but you can get a filter that is enclosed to keep the oil from getting into the line, but thats it...
