What gains have people gotten from...

..a torque converter and gears?? This past year, and on Nitto's, I ran a 14.0 @ 100mph. Plans for this winter are Vig 2800 stall, 3:42 gears, tune up, and a MAFT. How deep into the 13's should I expect to get with these new mods. What kind of gains have you guys seen from a converter and gear swap?? Thanks!

You'll get a huge gain with the TC. As for the gears...you'll lauch harder and get through faster. I'g get myself a CAI if I were you, gotta ge the car to breath. I would say mid 13's

ASSUMING you can get traction, you should run around a 13.3 or so......don't buy a MAFT....for that price you can just get a custom tune. JMO. Also, look into getting a cold air intake......it'll make a noticeable difference and they run anywhere from $160-200.

I myself was expecting and hoping for mid 13's. But I was interested in what more LT1 experienced people here thought! I may add a CAI to the list. We'll see how good Santa is!

The CAI is a must and is the first thing anyone should do to a stock LT1. Thats where you get the most bang for the buck.

I would go with 3.73s if its an auto. With 3.73s and a 2800 stall you will probably knock off around .5 to .6 of a second.

It al depends on traction. You won't gain even a tenth if you can't hook. Get some drag radials.

3.73's and a 2800 stall can cut a good .5 off your 1/4...if not more...depends on traction and the driver...

I do plan on getting Nitto's 94, I forgot to put that in my original post. So from the average response here, we should see a .4 - .6 drop in e/t. Should be fun next summer.

Faceless Z,
Did you go with a shift kit with your Vigilante? I don't see it in your sig. I am looking at going with a Vigilante and already have 3:73's. I know that a shift kit is recommended but I also have seen people such as yourself that don't run one.

Thanks,
Stephen
