Also, what is the most power anyone has gotten out of it. There is a kid with a Celica putting down autos, I just wanted to see how much we can get out of ours.

240's to 250's rwhp...anywhere between a 13.9ish to a 14.9ish...depends on the driver. Plus, what is a guy with a celica talking trash about an a4 z28 for...??? I use to have a 91 turbo celica and it wasn't anywhere near fast a stock LT1...she was quick but not fast??? Unless he has that 500hp prototype celica

I meant what is the most we can do to our cars, and still have the A4 hold up. Anyone out there with numbers or times?

projectz28 and KEN95Z28 were both in the 11's on stock trannys with nothing more than a shift kit and cooler if I remember correctly.

Well, sure stock trannies in cars that have considerable weight lose, torque converters and skinnies.

An open question you have asked.

I am looking to run high 10's with one with some weight reduc.

my stock A4 only held my heads/cam/bolton car for one day. im sure ive got less than 370rwhp. i guess each car is different and it depends on how the tranny was taken care of. somebody else drove mine for 62k miles but this is my motto "
if it breaks, it was weak and it needed replaced" at least that's what i tell the wife

I just had a disscussion with my freind about this. He wants an A4 car, I have a 6 spd car. I said he'd have to do tranny work, which would put him farther behind me both time and money. Other than a clutch an Pres. plate change for me. They still go bad, even in all stock daily drivers with like 240 rwhp. If I did an A4 car I'd swap to a beefier tranny, like a 700r or a th400. JMO though. Good luck with that Celica.

camaronutt, he has an advantage on you from the get-go, his shift timing is faster that you, or any other race driver, drag driver, or street driver can ever be when it comes to changing gears. and changing the torque converter alone will knock off over half a second, so where i see the advantage in racing is in the auto.

however, i like the manual tranny more because it is mor fun to drive. i also like to gear down and rev my engine next to ricers, thats just me though.

if there are any questions as to the speed and capabilities of the new auto tranny, look at the new bmw slk500. it has an auto tranny that can change gears completely in under .08 seconds. it is capable of holding 600 hp. this is from the factory.

My best pass on a stock internal 4L60E was 11.16 @ 123.77 mph.

Bah humbag

Thats true for a race prepped tranny, but i'll put my shifting up against a stock tranny.

Like you said though, they just aren't any fun!

Driving a stick shift is a good time, put autos are easier on parts and pretty consistent.

It is fun to drive a A4 when you put buslength after buslength on people.
