i wouldnt risk it either way, i know the gm stuff is like 7 bux, maybe cheaper from jason or someone, but the autozone stuff is like 4+tax, and chances are you will never take the rear end cover off again unless you shell it out, so if your gonna do something, why not do it right my .02 ne wayz

I've used the autozone stuff and it seemed to work alright. That stuff stinks too!

I swear by the GM additive! I have use just about all the different stuff...autozone, ford, GM, Pep Boys.....GM rules. My rear chattered like crazy with the cheaper stuff, ford was OK, but GM seems smoother.

The boys over at Strange told me to ONLY use GM gear oil, and GM additive. They also instructed me not to use synthetics. Speaking of which, I am just about due to change the fluid on my rear.

Spend the $$ on the GM stuff, it's worth it.

It may or may not work. The GM stuff definitely will work.

Changed mine to Synthetic (Mobil 1) last year and added a bottle of Autozone additive after I was getting some substantial rear end chatter. Still experienced the chatter, so I added a bottle of the GM additive and the chatter immediately went away. This year the chatter came back along with some other issues. I just changed back to GM Gear Oil (Non Synthetic) and GM additive and the Rear End sounds and feels so much better it isn't even funny.
