what to expect from a ignition upgrade?

what to expect from a ignition upgrade?
i was thinking about buying a msd ignition box, 6al or 6a, i read some where that the crane box gave a stock lt1 a minor increase in horsepower and torque and i was just wondering if any one had any input on the msd boxes that i listed above. i already have the coil just need the box.

just throttle response...that's about it. you'd get more out of a full tune up than with a box. replace your coil and you'd be fine. i had the box and it was jsut throttle response. no quicker times or even a feel....practicly just a failsafe for rev limiter.
but if you get one i personally think crane's the best. it's small, thin, packed with options and it's just like the rest...but smaller. they all do practicly the same thing but you'll get more bang for the buck if you replace the coil with it. and make sure your opti is in good condition ... there's been some report about the rotor failing out because there's too much ion or voltage for the thing to keep up with.

I still want to know what "just throttle response" means (particularly if it didn't make the car faster or feel any different).... why would replacing a healthy stock ignition change throttle response on anything other than a large power adder engine? And "throttle response" can only improve if the engine has more power and is capable of accelerating faster. Otherwise, "throttle response" is all in the imagination.

Re: what to expect from a ignition upgrade?
For a near stock engine the ignition upgrade will make very little difference. Ignition upgrades are needed when you add nitrous or a supercharger or both! In these cases, the increased combustion is more likely to blow out the spark, so a hotter ignition combined with a reduced spark plug gap is necessary.
