My brother has a '94 TA A4 and has a "Transmission Perform" button on his console. What exactly does that do and should it be used? He's ran his car off the line many times with the button on and off, but says he doesn't notice a difference.

It's probalby a dumb question and has been answered many times, but I'm not familiar with the A4's. I've always owned a manual. Please post. Thanks in advance.

it has abosolutly nothing to do with traction control... true... you cannot FEEL a difference... but there is one... it cahgnes shift points and all kinds of other things... put the car in drive... go about 40mph and hit the gas half way down... watch the tach... turn the button on... do the same thing...

Upshift/downshift timing would be something you would definitely notice. But if the tranny is a little weak, you might not notice a little extra firmness in the part throttle shifts, like you should. Most people can feel it, though.

Whoops, I mean to title it "transmission performance" button. I always get it mixed up.
