What does a lifter going bad sound like?

I have a click/clatter noise coming from the engine. I do have the RRs supplied in the hotcam kit, and I know noise is normal. However I seem to have developed a noticeable tapping/clicking noise that speeds up or down with RPM. It sounds like a RR may have worked its way loose but then I was thinking, stock lifters untill about 80K miles..now another 15K on them with the hotcam. Is it possible a lifter is going bad? What do they sound like when they start to go? Thanks

Aaron

Are you using polylocks on the rollers? If not readjust them again and see what happens. ticking goes away all set, if not dirt in the lifter

You would probably also feel something like a miss if it is bad enough.

Ok thanks guys. I am using polylocks on the rrs so I doubt one came loose but Im sure it is possible. I'll keep an "ear" on things and see what happens. Thanks again.

When I noticed my lifters were going bad, I was loosing a decent amount of upper RPM power. If it gets real bad, it often results in Valve Float. But yes, I louder than normal click-clack sound is a hint.
