What does a BURNT Valve look like?

What does a BURNT Valve look like?
Hey guys I pulled off my driver side head. ON some of the valves it looks like some metal is missing or somthing. Does this mean I have a burnt valve? What do burnt vavles look like. Thanks

The ones I've seen appear to have a radial crack that widens as it nears the valve seat.

I always thought it meant that the valve was missing a piece.. I had it happen once to a 2.3L mustang. Huge chunk missing out of the valve.. no wonder it didn't show any compression.
