Question What do you think about the Filter Magnet?

http://www.carmotorsports.com/FilterMAG.htm

Is this at all useful? It seems like a good idea in theory.

I have heard of people using magnets on their filters, but have never seen any proof of benefits from doing this. Sounds like a good idea though.

Neodymium magnets... thats some serious magnetic power right there. a 4"x4"x1" block of that neo stuff can hold around 9,000 pounds. Scary.

Using a magnetic oil pan drain plug, is a good idea.

I use one of those large Speaker magnets. Slap it on the bottom of the oil pan. You would be surprised

The negative to one located there, not able to inspect what you catch, without pan removal, unlike drain plug.

True, but I'm more concerned with any larger things that may break and fall into the oil pan. IE, blowing a lifter or something similar.
I feel the oil filter is pretty adequate at getting the small stuff Anything on the pan just doesn't move around. I pull the magnet off and drain the oil, that way anything in there comes right out with it
