What do you think about this cam?

I am building a 396 lt1 with le ported trickflows, le ported lt4 intake, 11.5 static compression going in a 3500 lb. camaro with a 3500 stall. I had comp help me with a cam. The specs are 248 256 @ .050 284 294 @ .020 with .672 lift with 1.6 rockers. It has a ls of 113+4. Valve timing on intake is 15 open 53 close and exhaust is 65 open 11 close all @ .050. Car is meant to be a bracket car but will see some street use. So what do you all think about the cam. I already have it but want to make sure it isnt a mistake before i put it in.

Thanks
Tim

Comp recommended to go 113+4 for tuning. no nitrous. It is a solid roller

Did ya figure your DCR. Seems ya are leaving some on the table with 11.5 static.
A 108+4 would be better if the DCR checks out.
Ya have to use the ADVERTISED duration to figure the DCR.

1racerdude hit the nail on the head! if you decide or think you may add n2o i would go to a 110 or 112 but pure motor 108

I would say talk to Lloyd and Bret about the cam, you will be worlds ahead of talking to Comp.

Re: What do you think about this cam?

Really Comp is about the last place I would go for cam advise they have some good cams but their tech support is well poor at best.
Really I wish I had left it a little more open, AI, CM, or any of a number of other vendors here would also be better choices than calling Comp direct, these places also offer great deals on custom Comp cams. Vendors here are a lot more familiar with the LT1 than someone at Comp who deals with all makes and models and sees it as just a job. The 113 for tuning sake is proof positive of that. They guys you see here posting all the 400+rwhp even on stock bottoms are not running anything like that.

If your putting this much into the motor already, i would highly recommend going with a custom cam made to work with your heads.

Re: What do you think about this cam?

I done the LE Trick Flow heads for my Hydroulic Roller 398. And loyd and bret suggested what i need for a cam and had it made. Mines alot tighter than a 113 LSA. Yours should be a 110 or a 108. Talk to Loyd Elliott about it, he'll direct you in the right direction on your cam issue.
