What do you guys think of this?

GolenEngine Service has a nice 383 motor for about 6299.. here are the specs::
Block: Thermally cleaned and Stainless-Steel Shot. Inspected by MPI process. Decked, bored, honed with torque-plates and pressure washed. Clevite cam bearings and pioneer brass freeze plugs installed. 4-bolt main caps.
Crank: Eagle Nodular-Iron
Rods: Eagle Forged 5140 Steel SIR, 6" Length, Floating Pin
Pistons: SRP Forged
Rings: Speed-Pro Plasma-Moly
Bearings: Clevite Main and Rod Bearings
Core Plugs: Brass Pioneer Core Plugs
Main Studs: ARP Main Studs
Lifters: Comp Cams Hydraulic Roller
Pushrods: Comp Cams High-Energy
Valve Springs: AFR Performance
Rocker Arms: Comp Cams Aluminum Full-Roller

AFR 195cc LT4 CNC Ported Aluminum
... How does this sound? Anyone heard anything good about Golen? I have never heard of them untill a few days ago.. I will be using my own cam though.. it says it makes about 480HP/513TQ.. Whats your opinion on this motor? its a nodular crank too, not forged, i dont plan on modding it though, once i get this im done, no spray either..

btw, what does this have to do with advanced tech?



for that price it should come with a forged crank, and more power, considering the heads. must be a mild camshaft.

as for their work, ive read some good reviews, but also i found threads like this

I think its a good topic for "LT1 Tech"

You might want to find out more about the cam (specs) and the heads (who ported them, flow #'s).

They seem very proud of those "pioneer brass freeze plugs".... mentioned them twice.

Does it include the Opti? Is it the vented version?

stick with someone who has a proven reputation in the LT/LS world.

I'm going to have LAB do my machinework. theyve been around since the 60's and have done a motor for me before that i couldnt have been happier with. he also helps me out when i have questions. tought me alot. hes in lindenhurst NY.
