What do orange spark plug tips mean?
Ok, I have seen black and grey tips before, but I just pulled a plug out of my LT1 and the tip (or hook anyway) is orange looking!
Recently I had a problem with major misfireing, and other things when the car warmed up. First I changed the plugs (exept plug #2 which I plan to shortly) and that didnt fix the problem so I had a new opti put in, and that fixed the problem.
All was well for...oh....three days or so, and then it started to get a small miss.
Its not too bad, but noticable when accelerating, and seems to be evident through most or all of the rpm range.
Well earlier this week I changed the oil, and I noticed plug #1 was loose, so I tightened it (hoping it would fix the miss).
I didnt think to look at it.
But the miss didnt go away, or change in the slightest.
So now I decided to pull that plug off and see if it was fouled...and when I pulled it out it was orange on the top?? I have no idea what it could be from...
BTW: it was an NGK TR55 plug, and I replaced it.

Vinny
Well that is good.
When I was down there I noticed one of the boots going into the opti was not pushed in all the way. I pushed it in and changed the one plug at the same time, and the miss pretty much went away.
So that is good. The car is running much better.
However it does seem to still have a little oddity down low. If you hit the gas in the lower rpms it hesitates or even shakes a little bit, where it didnt really used to.
Overall it is running very smooth though....
