i would do pacesetter ceramic coated long tube headers, y-pipe, and a catback such as the hooker, that will be around 800 probably (headers and y-pipe from texas-speed.com around 500 i believe, then the hooker exhaust from a vendor, not sure on the price)
from there, i would pick up a used cold-air intake here on the forums for around $100, putting u around 900 total. with 1100, u can get a nice nitrous setup and be good to go, otherwise look at a stall converter, and some basic suspension upgrades (LCAs, relocation brackets, panhard bar, etc)

3.73 gears for the rear, Mail order tune from madz28 or pcmforless (preferably after gears to get the speedo right) and throw in a cut out for the y pipe too

With your budget, you may have enough to cover most of the things suggested above. Full exhaust, cold air intake, gears, and a follow up tune.
