what do i need to beat a ZO6?
With the heads/cam you will be close. The better the heads the better off you would be. You will be makeing around equal power maybe a little more depending on how well the car is running. But the Z06 is a lot lighter then your car so it can have a less hp and still beat you. I say get a 100 shot and you should be set. Well as long as those tires stay set on the pavement that is.
I have yet to race one. There are a few in town but I never see them when I'm in my car. What's there mph in the 1/4? Are they like Vipers and trap high mph for the time? I trap 90.4mph in the eigth. I think it'd be a good race.
My car is a 383, converter, full LT exhaust and 3.73s gears with stickies, whats funny is I run mid low 12s easily and at the track I can beat the one Z06 I have raced (pretty good to) but on the street it seems like they just have something extra, I have raced 2 on the street, one stock and one that was modded with exh (headers, h-pipe and Catback with no rear mufflers), intake system, and programming. The Modded one couldnt hang with me from around 30 to 80 ( I had him by 3 cars at 80) but at that point he stopped my pull and slowly passed me til he had a car on my by 120. The stock one was simular but about even with me at 120 where we shut it down.

all good ideas.
I would nix the intake manifold idea you have. if you buy a manifold that will work with the heads you have now, if you do different heads later on, youll either have to mod the s*** out of them to get them to fit better heads, or buy a new manifold. I would check out lt4 conversion kit and do new heads and the lt4 intake manifold. the heads are about 860, and the intake manifold is 240, you do not have to buy the kit. but that way you have better flowing heads, and sweet intake manifold, and upgradeability to hell.
I would also stay with a 75 shot with stock bottom end. from all the reading ive done, i would run a wet kit, as it adds the fuel for you, and you will likly be able to stay with your stock fuel injectors. WITH N2O, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, BUY EVERY SAFETY OPTION YOU CAN. kits are lame, you need to add quite a few add on devices; fuel pressure safety device, n2o filter, etc...

A Z06 is more than just HP. The cars have steeper gearing somewhat equivalent to a 3.90 rear on an f-body, lighter weight (~3100lbs), wider rear tires (295 stock), and the higher HP (350+ RWHP). You've basically got the gears covered already, but you're going to probably need 400RWHP to beat there HP and lower weight. Plus you'll need to be able to hook up. A stock Z06 can run anywhere from high 11s to high 12s depending on the track, driver, and tires.
