I was wondering what mods I would have to have to beat an 01 cobra. I think there like 320 bhp. My car is a 97 with a low temp thermo, flowmaster catback, and K&N for now.

You should be able to pull them with longtubes. I didn't check your sig, is your car a manual or auto? If its an auto, go from a stop, its your best chance. If its a stick, try a roll, it will probably be up to driver skill. Most of them around here dyno 270s stock. Maybe 280s with intake/exhaust. I've rarely seen any Cobras with headers. (except 03s). Get some gears in that baby and wake her up! You should be able to hang with the cobra and most stock LS1s.

 

A Stock 01 Cobra VS. a stock 97 F-Body. Should be neck in neck. You may not need anything at all to beat him. Aren't the 01 cobra's only good for upper 13's???

No way!! They're mid 13-second cars at best (stock). Just do boltons (longtubes) and you'll leave 'em behind.

 

yeah, he didnt say 03 cobra!!! its an 01, mid 13's at best stock. is yours a M6 or A4? do the free mods, CAI,gear and some sticky tires and wave bye-bye to him on your way past him

 

before my gears no nitrous no 2nd gear barely beat my buddies w/ basic bolt-ons!!01 cobra vert!! but he also had bad 3rd gear syncro.

 

Yeah its an 01', i asked the guy. Its a nice car and sounds really good. I respect it. He hadnt asked me to race yet, i was just wondering what it would take to beat him. My car is A4, with 4.10's. SLP CAI and jet chip or HPP3 coming very soon, Ill have all that before I race him, I already have the Flowmaster catback. His car is stock as far as i know, i asked him. My car is pretty tough, i know he wouldnt walk all over me, especially if i got a good start.

 

i had 95 z and went up against 01 cobra with mods. his car had pullies, chip, xpipe and exhaust, stick shift. i had nothing but k and n filter. he jumpes 3 ft off the launch and from there i was inching on him, at 80 i had caught up, then at about 95 he started to leave me drastically. and i had auto. i think u should have no prob with cobra wioth ur mods.

 

Just do what i'm going to do bolt ons LT's and an adjustable 75-125shot of nitrous and you'll be fine

 

Add some headers to what you've already got and you'll win(as long as he's got nothing other than basic mods).

 

I had a stock 97 and I beat my friend all 3 times. Depends on the driver.

 

dude, u will be fine. but, ditch that hypertech and get u a nice custom tune. you will gain a substancial amount more HP. trust me
