what do get for a dipstick tube??
Well, seeing how I have had my motor apart 4 friggin times now, the dipstick tube is in pretty rough shape. I will be runnin the canton 242T pan, pacesetter long tube race headers, and its a 385 stroker. So, what would be my best option here? I can live without chrome, just another damn thing to clean, I am going for best price here. So post up what everyone runs! Please do suggest chrome ones too, as I may end up liking it! Just want to know what I can use here!
Thanks

wouldn't you burn the ef out of your hands trying to reach back that far?? its like right in the headers... it doesn't come up out of the headers like the stocker does...
Re: what do get for a dipstick tube??
The beginning of the part that you grab onto sits above the flange on the headers on my car. Plus it's aluminum so it cools down quick. Can't judge a good oil level till the car cools off a couple minutes and the oil drains back down anyways.
I can get a picture tomorrow.

yes! pics please dude! I am building a 385 right now, so I want to get all the parts here and ready. Where does it bolt to on top? a header bolt or what?
Re: what do get for a dipstick tube??
I have this dipstick, and it's a nice piece, but I'm not gonna lie: it was a major PITA to get installed. Since the handle is made of aluminum, and it sits down right in between the header primaries, it was a challenge to get it situated to where the handle wasn't touching a header and wasn't bent in such a manner that the dipstick itself couldn't be reinserted into the sheath. If you can get it lined out right it's worth having.

Thesoundandfury, try rotating the dipstick as you slide it into the sheath. Mine goes in like butter when I do that. I don't know where you had problems installing it other than that.
