I put my engine back together and I know i have a burnt wire and I have seen it arched. It seems to do it on start up.. really havent noticed it arching much. But my idle isnt right. Goes up and down about 50 rpms. When i give it gas and try and hold it at 2000rpms it will rev up hold it for alittle bit and then start to drop and i can give it alittle more gas and it'll jump back up... but will want to come back down to around idle. I thought Arching caused more of like a stumble or a miss.

Im redoing my rockers and checking my vacuum to try and isolate the problem also..

Note when you describe the "feeling" try and describe it as if your car is idling or sitting still... because i wont drive my car until i find the problem.

 

just touch each wire with your bare hands, youll know if ones bad REAL quick. Id advise you not do it if you have heart problems or any other medical conditions though.

Don't think you are going to feel the affects of a bad wire with the car just sitting there. When you drive it will feel like you have a miss or sluggish.

 

If he grabs hold of one and it's arcing,it won,t matter whether the car is sitting or not,he's gonna feel it.

 

Arcing wires feel very bad when you grab them. Sorry couldn't resist. Seriously start your car at night in a nice dark area. If your arcing it will be very easy to spot. Arcing wires can cause all sorts of weird problems, car just won't plain run right. The symptoms youre describing sound more like you got a couple of wires crossed??
