What did you use to install your new pilot bushing?

I am putting in a new pilot bushing. For those who have done it, did you just use a rubber hammer ? Also how did you make sure it went in evenly? Did you use a socket, or wood, etc. to put against the bushing to distribute the force to make sure it went in flat and even, or did you just hit the bushing itself with the rubber hammer, or whatever tool you hit it with.

Thanks.

Use a socket that's about the size of the pilot bushing. If you're nervous you can even place the socket backwards so it's a relatively flat surface pushing against the bushing. Then use a rubber mallet to start it off.

Be sure to put grease on it... it helps a lot.

You'll know you're in when the outer lip of the bushing is flush to the indentation that it's going into. There's a couple pics here and there on the forum if you do a search.

I used a socket that was slightly larger than the pilot bushing and hammered that sucker in there with a ball peen hammer. Don't get discouraged - it takes some muscle and quite a few blows.
