i pulled the throttle body off to clean it. i sprayed all the passages and inside the intake manifold with carb cleaner. i put it back together and when i started the car it shot up to 3k rpms and settled to 2500. i thought maybe i could use freescan reset the IAC but that didnt help, then i tried pulling the pcm fuse and that didnt help. the throttle cable is good, not too tight or anything. i am out of ideas!

 

The engine is obviously getting air through a passage other than the idle circuit. Are the blades stuck open (TPS indexed incorrctly?)? Did you use a new gasket for the bottom plate, tighten the screws correctly? Use a new gasket between the TB and the intake manifold, tighten screws? Replace the vacuum line from the EEC purge solenoid? Possibly knocked the PCV vacuum connection off the intkae, below the TB? Did you replace the foam seal on the TPS sensor? Did you damage the o-ring on the IAC motor?

 

long story short, TB gasket wasnt on right and i had a vaccume leak. all good now
