Ok my friends Z28 is making a loud tapping undneath one of the valve covers.
vavle cover removed all the solid tappets are decently snug.
Car has 120000 miles on it.
Couple nights before he was noticing the car was breaking up at top... possible valve float.

Can a valve float low enough on the LT1 where it bends a valve by slapping it against the piston?

Could it be a collapsed lifter?

Doubt its a pushrod cuz they are the hardend version (1995 z28).

It sound similar to a bad exhaust leak. Does it all the time in a pattern.

Any suggestions or ideas would be nice.
Gonna tear into it tomorrow..

 

Could be a loose rocker or a broken valve spring. Take the valve cover off and run the motor and see if you can find where it is coming from. Look at the springs. Good Luck!
