what could cause low idile???
My car is idileing at around 500rpms for along time and i have set my valves alot of different ways and always it comes out to idile at 500.
I am about to get the idile air control valve and hopefully that will fix the problem. But i dont want to spend $50 for something that might not even fix the problem. Is there anything else that could make it idile so low? I also have lt1 edit and i looked at what my idile is set at and it is about 1000 for when it is cold then goes to 900 and then 800. So i know it isnt the computer telling the car to idile that low.

I doubt that it makes a difference how low you idle if you don't stall or lose oiling.
If IAC is supposed to (I think) make sure that you have some air at cold start when the blades are closed and for idling and you can't keep it running than I'd guess you DO need to look at the valve. But I'd have the valve checked before I ordered one.
Are you sure you are "actually" idling that low or are you relying on the tach (which is usually indicating 300 high (in which case if it showed 500, you'd be idling at around 250-300 which probably would stall you out. Just a thought.

I dont have the hose that hookes up from the opti to the intake, would that cause the idile. Also i dont know exactly where it goes into the intake. I think i know where that hose goes into the opti but i could be wrong, could someone tell me exactly where they go.
A vacuum leak might make it idle faster, not slower. I vote for the IAC valve. You need to get a scanner on it, and see what the PCM is telling it to do, in terms of "counts", or steps of the stepper motor that opens the valve. If the PCM is responding correctly, it should be increasing the IAC counts. If it is, and the idle isn't coming up, possibly the valve isn't working, or the passages are gunked up.
Have you ever tried increasing the idle with the throttle stop screw? That would only be a temporary solution, since you really need to let the IAC do the work.
Might be a good idea to put the two vent lines on the Opti. Why take a chance. Check Shoebox's tech pages... he has pictures of the hookups for the Opti lines. I think he also has the test values for the AIC valve.
