What could cause this?!?!

My GF tells me that the Purple T/A is having brake trouble. Well, I finally got home last night, and too a look at it today, and when taking it around the block, it was readily aparrent that there was trouble.

So I take the front left wheel off and take a look, and of all things the upper caliper bolt that holds it to the spindle was GONE!!! The banging and grinding the experienced was the caliper grinding on the inside of the wheel when she applied the brake.

Got a bolt on order, but I'm left wondering why a bolt would just back out like that.

I just didn't think that a bolt of that size would back itself all the way out like that.
