What to clean intake with (off car)?

Well I finially got those fuel lines disconnected (I bought a Lisle set and took back the crappy Performance Tools set and that's all there was to it) But now I want to clean the oil off the inside of the intake and all the nastiness off the top of the intake. Whats the best way to go about making my intake shine?

I used a few cans of brake cleaner and a tooth brush first to get most of the grease and grime off it. Then I used a drill with a wire brush attachment to get the big surfaces polished and clean and then a dremmel with a wire brush to get the hard to reach places. Actually I probably could have just cleaned it good with the brake cleaner because the guy that ended up powdercoating it for me sandblasted it clean. I think it came out pretty good

Nope, the best answer is aluminum wash. It's not cheap at about $20 per gallon, but it does an AWESOME job. It's actually a mild acid. Spray on liberally, scrub quickly with a brush, and hose off. Don't let it sit on for more than 30 seconds or so. It will come out looking like brand new.

Thanks for the info guys. Greg97Z - did you paint your intake, or have it powdercoated? Looks great!

Try a local machine shop and see if they'll put it in their tank or blaster. I took mine to a local NAPA that has a machine shop and they cleaned it by blasting it with the little *****/pellets (I think they're foam or something). It came out perfect and did no damage. It wasn't very expensive either.

I used Metalwax Metal cleaner on mine. Metal Wax
This stuff worked pretty good you just do little sections at a time and rinse with water when your done with a section. I used a small stainless brush to clean my manifold. This stuff also did a nice job on my headers.

Before

After

This is what the Intake looked like cleaned and assembled: Intake

Well this is gonna sound stupid but it works. Eagle One A 2 Z wheel cleaner in a orange bottle. i did my intake, alt., water pump, ect. with it and wow!! There was no rubbing and easy. my car under the hood has never been touched with a water hose so u can imagine what the stuff looked like but it brought it all back out to the natural aluminum look.
