what are the chances?

I have a 96 camaro that I had stroked....all the engine work was done by the best machine shop in the area. But while I was in the army I let a guy from base do the install. he put the engine in, intake, accessories but the problem is once I got the car right before he left the car has water in the oil? To my knowledge the car was not driven or ran for any length of time. so now I am looking at redoing the intake with the hope that was the issue. my question is what would be the chances of the heads and or gaskets being messed up? any other known causes?

Well, there is little chance that the intake install would allow water in the oil. And do you mean water, or coolant? If it is water, then maybe the engine got rained on without the intake on?? Did the machine shop put the heads on, what type of gaskets?

I don't believe the intake has coolant running through it. I would change the oil and see if it is there again. Water, coolant and gas would each have there own testing procedures.

Did he seal the head bolts/studs with sealant. Also did you have the engine converted to 4-bolt splayed caps, Maybe the machine shop drilled to far into the water jacket.

clarification

when I said water I meant coolant....when the oil was drained it was milky.
1.The machine shop did not convert it to a four bolt. Had I know a little more about it I would have had them do it.
2. As far as the intake I had heard of people putting the intake gaskets on upside down and covering a water port. not sure if that could even be the case. at this point I have not even pulled the intake just drained the oil.
3. all work to the heads and block where done by the machine shop. as stated before they are the best shop in the area so I am confident about there work but I will call to confirm details.

Nope, there are no water ports in an LTx intake. It's dry.

if they hit a water jacket at the machine shop?

If they had hit a water jacket at the machine shop wouldn't they have noticed?
The block was bored .30 over is this a common problem?

When I did a intake on my other vehicle I got coolant in the oil and had to change it twice to remove most of it. Maybe something like that happened so don't tear the whole thing down before at least changing it once and letting it run a bit and rechecking.

although unlikely, maybe the block is cracked? did they magnaflux it or anything?
probably has something to do with the head gaskets. Maybe try a leakdown test see if you get air coming out of the cooling system.

This could also be caused by assembly lube. Is this the 1st oil change on the motor? If the shop used a Lithium based lube, which is white, the oil will appear milky after startup. I would change the oil and see what happens. Can't hurt anything and you're only out 20 bucks.
