Umm...the only 4th gens that had 3.08s are the non-Y87 equipped 3800 V6 cars.

As far as Corvette's go, 3.08 could be found in 1963- 1979 models. 1980-1982 models 3.07, 1984-1996 3.56 and 3.73 only, in the Dana 36. I "believe" this is correct.

The 8.5" 10 bolt in b-bodies (Impala SS, Caprice, Roadmaster etc.) comes with 3.08 (among other things), but unless you swapped the whole rear axle , that should not be the case. I have not heard of anything other than 2.73, 3.23, and 3.42 for V8 f-bodies.

open your driver's door and look for the code:

GU2 EQUALS 2.73
GU3 EQUALS 3.23
GU3 EQUALS 3.42

hope this helps

A little more accurate:

GU2 : AXLE REAR, 2.73 RATIO

GU4 : AXLE REAR, 3.08 RATIO

GU5 : AXLE REAR, 3.23 RATIO

GU6 : AXLE REAR, 3.42 RATIO
