What cam to use with my setup?? CC306/CC468
What cam to use with my setup?? CC306/CC468
Alright here's the deal, what cam should I go with on my 388 ci build-up. I loved my CC306 with 230/244 duration .510/.540 lift but I also looked and found the most aggressive cam I could find, CC468 with 242/248 duration .584/.579 lift. I put these cams in my dyno simulator and cam with these numbers.
CC306 - 475hp@5500/527@3000 +-0 degrees
/536@3000 +4 degrees
CC468 - 480hp@6000/511@4000 +-0 degrees
481hp@6000/522@4000 +4 degrees
I guess the 306 has more lower end torque and hp while 468 gives a higher rpm range with a higher end hp and tq level. In other words I think I will loose some acceleration with this bigger cam. Well here's my setup:
3.750 Eagle Crank .060 making 388 ci.
5.7" Rods
383 Pistons 11.8:1
1.6 Ratio Magnum Tip Roller Rockers
CC Magnum Push Rods
LT4 Lifters
Pacesetter LT's w/x-pipe and bullets
G2 Cold Air
Ported MAF
GM Performance Timing Chain
180 Thermostat
Ported/Polished Heads w/valve job, stock valves, and Crane 10308 Springs
Ported/Polished Intake
Ported/Polished TB
Air Foil
TB Bypass
!AIR
!EGR
!CATS
LT4 Knock Module
Synthetic Motor Oil
Walbro Fuel Pump
Bigger Injectors
Tuned PCM (will be retuned)
ES Motor and Tranny Mounts
HV Oil Pump w/ 7qt pan
Valve Locks
Stage 2 Clutch
Magnecor 8.5mm wires
Iridium spark plugs
So what do you guys think??? Also what plugs to run????

You already chosed valve springs before you decide cam?
There is a big difference between these 2 cams.
Why not custom cams?
Spec 2 is not enough to support your hp goal.

I ran the 10308 with the cc306 and they are great and can hold any lift I throw at it without collapsing so my springs are fine, just wanted to go with a higher lift if it was better. What do you think? Should I go with the lower end cc306 or the higher end cc468? I'll loose tq with the bigger one but gane very little in hp. Simulators are consistant but I know they aren't correct.
