What Cam should I get
What Cam should I get
I have a 96 Lt1 around 40k on motor ( stock ) I'm doing New Opitspark & water pump and just finished plugs and wires. My question is I would like to do a cam and headers. Please let me know what the biggest cam I can do without get into the motor It is my daily driver. I see alot of people with CC305 your thoughts.
There is nothing wrong with the CC305 grind, it is older now, but still a proven cam. The CC503 is a newer grind that is pretty popular. Either cam has very good street manners and provide a very nice power gain.

Take a look at that as well as searching for cc503. A lot of people like this cam on stock heads. In that thread is a list of the stuff I plan to buy very soon for my cam swap.

The cost of all the parts can easily come to around a grand. Labor to do the installation can run anywhere from 700-1000. A mail-order tune will run around 150-200 bucks and if you want a dynotune, it will run more.
Rockers, 320
Guideplates, 30
Springs, 300
pushrods 130
gaskets 75
Tune, (mail order 125-175), (dyno tune 350+)
fluids 50-75
To do it right cheapest you're looking at $1300, but little odds and ends add up, like a spring compressor, ect...
Why? It sounds like alot of guys have done it with no problems.
Send me your email and I'll send it to you (avatar) I dont know how to make it bigger.Thats from a car show in Texas called Texas Heatwave Me and my son took first place in 2001 and 2002.
