What cam should i get ?

I got a 93 z with 42,XXX miles on it , its has k&n filtercharger, 52mm throttle body, flowmaster exhaust and hypertech programming. with full suspension rear end hotchikis rods and all with eibach springs but besides all of this i want some more power. I want to get a cam but i have no clue as to what the cam degrees and sizes mean. could some one tell me what cam should i get if im interested in runing very low 13's in the near future.

First thing you have to consider is the RPM range your willing to run, aka where you want your shiftpoint/redline to be. Then people can recommend cams to maximize your power within that rpm band.

What do you run now? ET, MPH and 60'

Headers?

The hypertech probably isn't doing squat for your car and a custom ecm chip (93's only) would be recomended for any cam.

btw, you don't need a cam to run low 13's, or 12s even, unless your at altitude?

If your willing to shift at 6800 and don't mind giving up tq below 3k rpms then get the GM 847 might be for you.

If you want to shift around 6500 then the cc306 might be for you.

If you want to shift around 6200 and only give up tq below ~2300 then the cc502, lt4 hotcam, or cc305 might be the ticket.

IMO yes, it matters

Do you want a really choppy idle?

How do you feel about poor vacuum?

Are you going to do gears?

How do you feel about gas milage?

Are you considering nitrous in the future?

Will you be doing head work?

Whats your budget?

Sorry about so many question, but if i were you i'd want consider all of those factors before i picked a cam.
