what to buy.

Hey people just wanting some ideas from you guys on what you think I should do...

I have a 93 Z28 M6 with 173,xxx km's. I will soon be possibly aquiring the amount of $4000 and I want to put it into my car, I just want to use it wisely.

The car is in good shape, has bbk headers, K&N, full flowmaster exhuast, short throw small mods. I know the car needs a clutch, headgaskets changed soon, and a new power steering pump but those are things I can save up for over winter. I am thinkin about new wheels/tires, new brakes for sure and maybe using it for a clutch, just wanting to know what any of you think would be a wise buy for the car.

thanks, Kyler

well if you feel its gonna need new headgaskets soon anywyas you can do a head/cam combo to avoid the possible headgasket issue in the future as well as get a good bump in hp.

You can get a pretty good head/cam combo from one of these guys:
www.eportworks.com

and still have some money to spare. You could always save that towards a better shortblock or a new rearend.

If Kyler was to go for a LE1 package would he need anything else as supporting mods for the Head/Cam package? Like a FPR or a higher pressure fuel pump or anything else?

What are some typical packages from AI that has similar effects/results to the LE1, were just trying to find out which company has the best bang for the buck because of the distances that might be requried for shipping.

If the fuel pressure is good then the pump should be ok. I'd make sure to get all the supporting mods and materials you need before you attempt an install.

Is there any other supporting mods aside from injectors and the 52mm TB that would be required for the LE1 heads with the mods the car currently has already?

Well the shorties wont net as much power as a set of long tubes but they will work. Bigger injectors are definately needed. A good tune is going to be needed with that large of a cam. You are also going to need a better or new timing set. Do not forget all the little stuff. Gaskets, fasteners, fluids, and an inicidental amount of $ for broken sensors and what not. You will break something and have to replace it so prepare for it. Going to need new spark plugs too.

What would you imagine is at risk for breaking, also is there anything neccesarily wrong with the flowmaster? Think you could aid in an estimate for price on everything.

The temp sensor on the head will usually break. The plugs might get broken. There are a few things you will see around the headers that might snap off unless you take them out first. The flowmaster just really choked my car up and I could tell a difference between it and a bullet muffler. Get a free flowing dynomax or hooker muffler to just replace the muffler. No need to change the whole exhaust. Shoot me a PM if you wanna ask anymore questions.

rebuild. if you throw heads and cam in there your going to rev it about the 5750 stock redline. the stock shortblock with 175,000 isn't going to last. I would rebuild it and put in the new clutch, power steering pump, and whatever parts you need. With the rebuild I would throw in a mild cam because you already have all the boltons. The motor and the rest of the car would be in good shape then. Plus it would lay down 335-355rwhp and be reliable.
