maybe so! but as with anything like was said above once you get into the high HP range and start pulling consistent low tens at the track you will switch to regular!

the thing is, synthetic is a friction modifier and the m6 tranny syncros work on friction so you do the math

its not AS bad in the auto to run synthetic but it CAN cause SOME slippage if you start getting into the high HP ranges! but by then you should be on your way to a race prepped tranny anyways if your running an auto

What about TCI's fluid? I heard that B&M fluid sucks.

OK, so I run past 4,500 RPMs in a near stock car once in a blue moon...is synthetic ok for me, or should I drain it now? Never once had I heard of synthetic being bad for a 6 speed until this thread...I'm rather interested by what people are saying about the 6 speed.

Someone brought up the GMHTP magazine issue with their car...I have always looked at synthetic as cheap insurance, just like they said! Am I wrong?

tranny fluid

i'm planning on a transgo shift kit for my 96 ws6 pretty soon. i heard of a fluid called "Mystic type-F". what's this? i've run type F fluids in gm hydromatics before the "e" computer controlled trannys, and got good results from a "shift firmness" point of veiw. is this fluid compatible with the 4L60E tranny in my car?

thanks!

A GM drivetrain engineer who gets paid to do R&D on the 4L60E (ie blow them up and try again) told me to use Fords fluid. It helps a bit.

i sure don't want to, " blow up" anything on my car! that's why i asked. my lt1 is stock, so i'm not pushing 400 horses or anything near it. i'm just wondering if the type "f" fluid is better to run {for shift firmness} and if it is going to be bad for the seals, ect. i've been told it will increase the firmness, but , i don't have the $ to "blow it up". i have stock pcm program. should i stay with dextron III fluid when i install the transgo shift kit?

this is what i have heard from a LOT of respectable people! 11sec to 9sec cars! it makes sense! I totally agree about putting the best in and i used to use synthetic until i heard about what im telling you! i dont mind paying more to save a lot! running synthetic wont hurt anything i dont believe but it does make the tranny work against itself!
