What is better about running 94-95 headers?

on 96/97 cars they crammed the drivers side cat beside the oil filter, so header systems for them still have the cat in that location ands thats not an efficient design and you could only get less than shorties which wouldn't be worth the money or time.
just get the 94/95 style ones and don't look back, much better gains

depends on what you want to do and what you have to do for emissions
you can convert to obdi or buy a dual cat y-pipe
or just get a set and use a 94/95 style y-pipe and have a shop fab up a "s" pipe to go between the y-pipe and the cat-back, 94/95 had that on the cat back and 96/97 had it on the y-pipe. i think thunder racing sells one too or you can get a 94/95 style cat back to finish off the exhaust(thats what i did)

Emissions isn't a problem here. The only reason I would want a cat is for the sound but I can just add a Carsound cat later. How do you like your AS&M? Did they have a nice increase? Did they come with an ORY? Where did you get them and how much $$?

I have 94-95 headers on my 96. They're a great header too. If you get 94-95 headers you'll need a cat/off road pipe, and a s pipe to connect to your 96 style exhaust. Or if you have the extra cash get a 93-95 style cat back and it will hook right up to your cat/off road pipe. I have a 96-97 style exhaust now, but I plan on getting a 93-95 soon to get rid of all the extra crap under my car.

Everybody seems to dog on the 96/97 style headers unless they have them. I gained exactly .2 from them. I have the 96/97 style slp shorties. Plug access is good as long as the y-pipe is off. Just remember if you switch to 94-95 style you'll throw codes for air/egr. Which means to get rid of the codes you'll either have to have them programmed out or switch to obdI. I'm very happy with my 96/97 style headers for shorties. Although, if your not worried about emissions, just get long tubes.

i have the 94-95 SLPs and they are very nice headers. you wont throw any EGR or AIR codes if hook it all back up.. they will fit but may require adapters. you will need rear O2 sims however.. that you cant avoid unless of course madwolf hooks you up with a tune in which case you wouldnt have to worry about any emissions provisions and like me, cap them.
