What are the best pistons to get?

Like bore size and stroke? I am checking out SummitRacing and they have bore size at

4.000
4.020
4.030
4.040
4.060

and stroke at

3.480
3.750

I am relatively new to cars, I know the basics, this is for a 1993 Z28 too.

This isn't entirely needed.. but do I get the same piston ring size as the piston bore size? And then 1.5mm thickness?

I won't be installing these by the way.

Re: What are the best pistons to get?

It is all going to depend on your application. Is this a naturally aspirated motor or is it going to be force inducted or used with nitrous? Do you know what compression ratio that you are going to need? What heads are you going to use and what size combustion chambers? Give some more information about if this is going to be a complete rebuild of a motor or are you wanting a stock replacement? I think that you should try some of the sites that I will list below instead of Jeg's or Summitt Racing. These sites will give you all of the data that you will need to make your decision. Also, when you order the pistons, they can set you up with the correct rings.

If you need some info on where to order pistons, I know of some pretty good internet supply co's that have good prices. I personally am going with Diamond's in my buildup. From what I have found out, they are great quality at a lower price than JE. The SRP's are a good piston at a good quality also. Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the quick reply, the www.jepistons.com pretty much set me on the right track.
