WHat is the Best(Easiest)way to adjust valves?
I have a 97 Z28. Comp-R lifters and 1.6 roller rockers. What is the best and easiest way to re-adjust these. I pulled the valve covers and with the valve closed all the way, there is a little play between the rocker and the pushrod . Is this normal? Thanks.
Re: WHat is the Best(Easiest)way to adjust valves?
Is it already running? If it is i would just start it up with one valve cover off. Loosen the rocker untill it starts clattering then tighten it to when it just stops. Then set you preload which is 1/8 of a turn i think for comp rs.
Re: WHat is the Best(Easiest)way to adjust valves?
I prefer the Shoebox Method 1 or Method 2. Even though I have been using
Method 1 about 20 years before visiting this site for the first time, the info
on the Shoebox site is so nicely done and helpful, it's worthy of official
recognition as the Shoebox method.
I am assuming you have 7/16 rocker studs. If so, I have the same setup and
set the lash to 1/32 turn last time and the car runs great.

Re: WHat is the Best(Easiest)way to adjust valves?
As picky as I've found my Comp R's to be, I've found that the method that works best for me is method 3 on shoebox's page.
But like shoebox said, ask different people, get different answers.
