What are the benefits of a fuel pressure regulator?
I am looking to buy a fuel pressure regulator. First, what are the benefits, gains? Second, which one is the best or all they all the same? Thanx for any imput!!
Unless your stock FPR is not working right, sticking etc.. your probably not going to see any gains by going to an AFPR on a bolt on car. As mentioned there are gains to be seen on a 93 because you can lower the fuel pressure with an AFPR and the computer (chip) will not compensate for it by changing the injector pulsewidth. In 94-97's the PCM will compensate for any change in pressure. I wouldn't bother with an AFPR unless you go with bigger heads/cam and larger injectors.
Thanx for the advise, I'm glad I didn't go out and waste my money, I eventually plan on doing some drastic engine work and I will wait to put the Fuel Pressure Regulator on at that time. Thanx again!!!
