What is it?
On the passenger side valve cover there is a valve of some sort. Looks like the PCV valve but it isn't. Anyway there is a lot of oil around it on my car. Can't replace it if I don't know what it is. It's a larger hose about the same size as the one to the PCV valve. Thanks
The connector in the passenger side valve cover is just an elbow to connect the hose to. That hose comes from the throttle body, pulling air through a port in front of the blades. It supplies filtered, metered air to the passenger valve cover, where it is pulled through the crankcase and lifter valley, through the PCV valve, and into the intake. If your PCV valve is plugged, or you are getting excessive blowby on the rings, you may have more vapor than the PCV valve can handle, and the pressure builds up an drives the vapors the wrong way, toward the TB.
Or, the grommet in the valve cover may just be dry and cracked, and need replacement.
