changed over from a flowmaster muffler and a cut out. now have 2 1/2 duels x pipe and 2 12' bullets. for all of you thinking it may be too loud its not at all. and it sounds pretty tough. it sounds like a sn95 cobra on roids. i can actually tell a difference top end also. throttle responce on highway is better and more power @70. feels like top end has woke up a lot from it. 3800 and up. does it make that much of a difference changing over? i know the factory y is restrictive but was it that bad?

btw no cats before or after.

anyone know how much this typically ups hp and tq. i have heard around 14 hp 18 tq? is this true?

Also, how much clearance do you loose?

And where does your exhaust end? Is it side piped? Or out the back?

I try not to get caught up on looks, but to me, a 4th gen needs pipes out the back, side pipes just dont look right on them.

If they go out the back, how did you route your pipes? Also, what diameter?

 

I'm dumping right before the axle

 

Are they emissions legal?? I am considering this route but I have to worry about inspection and emissions. Thanks. Post some pics please, I would also like to see were to route and hang.

 

i'll see if i can get pics today. i dumped it before the axle. emisions its ok if you have cats... if you run the pipe over the axle and out the back you are looking at spending more money. and most shops won't ever do it. its hard to find one that does duels on our cars

 

I don't think dumping before the axle is legal in NJ so that's not an option. You can't dump under the car either. The tailpipes have to exit from under the body behind the rear axle.

 

So they don't sell Ford Lightnings or Roush Mustangs in NJ?

Ford Lightning isn't a car and Rousch Mustangs aren't stock Ford products so no, there are no cars with stock side exhaust sold in NJ. That's why all the NJ guys move to FL.

 

The mufflers are 2 12in bullets with the tips welded on to the end of them. I have slp mids, and that y pipe is similar to stock, so i cut the y before the cat which is still 2 pipes and had 2 2.5in pipes ran down the pass. side where they then go over the axle split off and run to the stock location where you will find the bullets and tips. Ill steal the camara back from my g/f and get you a few pics.
