went to the track tonight

hey all, i'm down in texas visiting friends, and i drove my z28 down here, so i thought, why not visit my old track?

anyways, its Texas Raceway in Kennedale, only an 1/8th mile track, but heres what i ran:

keep in mind, this is my first time racing a manual trans, rwd car, so i didnt get the launch down right away

run1
60': 2.554
330': 6.443
mph: 59.83
1/8: 9.616
mph: 76.13

run2
60': 2.215
330': 6.099
mph: 59.88
1/8: 9.246
mph: 77.23

run3
60': 2.259
330': 6.117
mph: 60.09
1/8: 9.246
mph: 77.71

i made a couple other runs, but they were in the same area, i was on kumho solus 235/60/16's and couldnt manage a better 60' time with my inexperience.

right now, the car is basically stock, has new clutch, opti, plugs, wires, msd coil, !AIR, !cat, new waterpump. i put in 2 gallons of 110 octane, but it didnt make a difference.

For what its worth, the car had about 100lbs worth of crap in it.. am i on par for a basically stock '94 m6 car? also, what does this equate to in the quarter mile?

thanks for the help.

I'm pretty sure that converts to low 14's. Not bad for first time with a manual, they are a bitch to launch especially on street tires. If you want to make it a little easier pick up some Nitto Drag Radials. They hook a lot better than street tires and if you are careful with them they won't break the rear.

thats about a 15....

You can't expect to do anything on a street tire anyway....

i sincerely disagree with the statement that its a 15, im not new to racing, just racing this car, i seem to remember my gs running an 8.30 on its way to a 12.90 pass, so .9 in the 1/8th cant possibly mean 2 seconds in the quarter.

*fix from earlier blunder*

Back in the day for me 9.0 @ 80 translated to 13.9 @ 99-100.

Uh i think you all are out of it. I went 8.40 in the 1/8th on my way to a 13.07 in the 1/4. When I was on street tires I went 9.0 in the 1/8th and it was 14.0 in the quarter. If you ran 13.90 with a 8.0 1/8th that means you let off of it somewhere.

Thats not right dude... 8.0's @ 80... try 9.0's at 80mph... you need to look at your timeslips again

I ran a 9.0 @ 80 and finished at 13.9 @ 100mph.
