My old 96 Trans Am M6 with bolt ons with stock 3.42 gears was running 13.4@106mph with street tires (over 200K on the stock motor).
2 of my friends with 96 Trans Am's, M6 stock, and A4 with 3.73's were running 13.6 all day long.
The A4 guy is Quickshot Kimber here on the boards.

I'd be upset if I ran those times with a cam.
But, if you are still running the stock 93 ECM, then you definitely need to dyno tune your car since Speed Density is not mod friendly, you HAVE to tune the car when major mods are done.

It's not the times that I'd be worried about, it's the 101 mph trap speed. My car, along with pretty much everyone else's, ran faster than that with bolt-ons. You need to check the simple things (ie. rockers, lifters, plugs (to see if the car is running rich or not), ect.)

A hotcam car at the slowest should be going at LEAST mid 12's. If it's not, something is wrong.

Sounds like the original poster has a mystery car, with mystery mods, and a failing transmission.

I would say you were correct, but I'm pretty sure (with 2.0 60 ft times) that he doesn't have a stall. I ran 12.85 @ 108 w/ 2.0 60 ft. w/out a stall and 12.28 @ 111 w/ 1.75 60 ft with one. Those times were with the hotcam kit.

I probably should change my post and base it off MPH.. but obviously your MPH was there when you first went out, so it was ok too

I also think a car with those mods should be doing better. I'm running 13.68 @ 100.4 with stock heads, stock cam, stock exhaust (including cat back), stock suspension, stock A4, stock tune. (The Corsa was added after my last time at the track.)

A stock LT1 would trap 99-102mph depending on transmission and rear end gears. His mph is definately a cause for concern and my whole reason for posting.

You should be able to get a better 60' time with Nitto drag radials. Are you doing a burnout?

Wait, I didn't see that you had a hotcam.

Let me edit my previous post and say you should be running faster then 101 trap.

I ran 101 trap with a stock motor and just boltons.

I had my transmission rebuilt and I know it has a shift kit, and upgraded internals but a close to stock torque converter and it shifts according to how much gas I'm giving it. When I floor it though it goes all the way to redline.

I hope you didn't pay too much for it because it sounds like they promise you a built monster and you got shafted.

I can't believe anyone would run the car with metal shavings in the oil...He also is basing the Hot cam on hearing it run...I hope his ears know what they are doing...By no means am I trying to be an ***, but you really need to find out exactly what you have and fix whats broken before you can compare anything...Don't take anything as fact until you prove it yourself...If Ed tuned it, he may have records of the car or previous owner, etc including the mods...Back track and investigate to find the truth...

I'll go back to the track after I get my new rocker arms on and see if that helps any. I'll also checked the spark plugs and if needed, get new ones. I'll probably gaet a dyno tuen after and see how much all this helps. Few questions though.
1. Any better than other spark plugs to use, or they all basically the same?
2. Since car is a 93 and can only be tuned through a chip, would they be able to tune my car at a dyno shop?
3. If they can tune my car, Any one know where there are any dyno shops in Orlando?

1. The plugs are personal preference. Many people are happy with NGK's. I run Autolites.

2. Yes. It's actually easier, because the tuner can use a 'real time' tuner and make all the changes to see what works, before burning a chip.

3. Can't help you with this one.

You need to sit down...go through it...see what you got and descide where you want to go.
What do you want to run? get a new set of springs, check pushrod length, get some rockers, gear tires, 93...sounds like your t.v. cable is out of adj. put a servo in the trans check the fluid....

Just go through the car and do what needs to be done....If you want it to run right you have to put the time into it. To me sounds like you bought somebody elses problem, they got tired of messing with it
take it one step at a time and everyone is here to help
Don't be mad at a bad track time...car has a lot more in it trust me

Nice advice.
