I was on my way to the track saturday (75mi one way) and about 5 mi from the trace I went over some bumps and the thing started popping, crackling, knocking, and pinging. I thought I might have had a plug wire or something come loose. I rode to the track with the rest of my friends and brough back there trailer after we unloaded their car. We took a screwdriver and checked for spark at the plugs and nothing. But there was spark at the coil.

I proceeded to remove the opti, and something has broken off inside the opti and is rattling around. I can shake it with the plug hole at the bottom and peices of black and white plasic that have been shattered.

The thing is...it only has ~100mi on it. I just bought it a month ago from Dal.

I really want to take it apart o see what is wrong with it but I dont want to void the warranty if there is one. Anyone know?
I am going to call dal today as soon as I get out of school and get anotherone on the way.

Has anyone else ever had this happen??? What could have broken off. I talked to a guy at the track who is good with lt1's and he said that sometimes the screws back out of the arm that makes contac with the points and tears everything up.

Sorry for the long post. I was just wondering of anyone ese had this happen???

If you have a cam with the dowel not cut proporly it will destroy the bearing retainer inside the opti causing the bolt holding the retainer to snap off. You may be hearing the head of the retainer bolt rattling around.
