Went for inspection; Blew motor.

Went today to do the emissions test on my car. Told the dude my electric fans didnt work so he needed to put a blower in front of the car. Said it was not a problem. Heard them start the car rev it for a while...kept reving them BOOM. He told me the radiator blew. I looked in front of the car...no blower. It got so hot it just blew. Anti freeze and motor oil all over my car. Said he was not at fault and i was out of luck. Paid for the test in advance and no refund. Oh and i needed new windshield wipers. Crazy or what?

And that's it? I think he would have been begging my forgiveness after about the 20th kick in the groin. And then he would have gotten his wallet or checkbook out and paid for the damage.

Ofcourse he's not going to offer to pay for it on his $6/hr salary. You need to talk to his manager and a lawyer. You told them it needed to have a fan, but he didn't put one there. I doubt you'll get full coverage, but you might be able to get some kind of compensation. Keep it cool, do your homework, and let them know you mean business - legal action, etc.

During my last inspection, I heard them spin the tires and rev the car up. Nothing pisses me off more than some punk kid getting his jollies off in my car that I worked my butt off to buy . Next inspection I will be riding shotgun and on top of those clowns like a hawk.

You might want to look into it but when I used to inspect emissions, it was mandatory that we put a fan infront of the car of we could lose our license or get a pretty big fine. That was in Ga but it could be the same in Tx. Look into the laws and procedures and you should be able to get your stuff fixed. Go back and talk to his boss and maybe even his boss if you have to and get your car repaired. DO NOT PAY FOR IT YOURSELF! Have then pay for it, it was HIS fault, whether your fans worked or not. Good luck with everything.

The fans not working has never been a problem. Most of my driving is done on highway and the car gets enough air to run around 200. I had left a message for my lawyer and he called me back and said the shop is responsible. If the guy would have told me he had no way to keep the car cool and it might blow; there is no way i would have let him touch it. Does GM make LT1 crate motors? If so how much?

From what I have heard, GM has no more crate LT1's. If I were you, I would get as much as you can from them(for the rebuild and the inconvenience) and forge the bottom end and spray the crap out of it. Thats just me though. Good luck. Get everything you can out of them.
