Wells Coil Or MSD Blaster???

Hey guys is the blaster worth the money over the stock replacement wells coil? I heard that the stock coils are pretty decent compared to the aftermarket ones.

Yeah the 94. I heard that the aftermarket coils aren't an improvement on the 96&97 but not sure on the 94.

Re: Wells Coil Or MSD Blaster???

i had a wells a few days ago, tested it and it had 9.3k ohms which is really bad, went back to autozone and tested other ones and they were the same, and it went to 9.8k ohms in 3 days. not good at all... still arced all over the place by the 3rd day

i went to central auto parts and got one for 30 bucks from a brand named tru tech that works great, maybe not constructed as good, moves around a little, but it has around 7.5k ohm's...

The MSD Blaster (or similar) should have a little more spark output than a stock replacement. (93-95)

Re: Wells Coil Or MSD Blaster???

Hey guys I picked up an Accel Super coil from Advance Auto Parts today. They even matched jegs price. I tested it with my ohm meter and the readings came out the same as the 180k mile coil on my 2.8 engine. 3k ohms secondary. <1 ohms primary. Now from what I'm reading here http://www.corvetteforum.net/c4/doctorj/heicoilinfo.htm even though the ohm readings are similar it can still pump out more volatge. But the article also states that these coils might not work that great with CD systems. I was planing on going with a msd or mallory unit down the road. But I assume since accel has there own cd unit that's compatible with this coil it should be alright. What do you guys think? Shoebox could you measure the primary and secondary resistance on your msd for me?

Thanks!

My Blaster coil is about 3000 ohms less than this stock coil.

Re: Wells Coil Or MSD Blaster???

Wow thanks for the info. So if my ohmeter is accurate my accel should have less ohms than the blaster. I wish i was at school so I could use some of the lab equipment.
