The saga continues..........
The saga continues..........
Hey all. I started taking apart my wounded '96 Z28. It suffered a sudden
and dramatic coolant loss on the expressway.
While lying under the car I noticed the temp sensor seemed to be
broken in half, part still in the head and part in the wiring harness.
Any chance coolant could have escaped that way ?
Before I go any further
to everyone that wrenches on
these cars
I'm used to spinning wrenches on my pick up
and pick and holy sh*t, everthings a tight fit ! Took me almost 20
minutes to remove the alt. and I bet some of you here can have it off
in less that 5.
I'll be wrenching and throwing more fits this weekend, working on getting
the heads off. Not sure how much I'll get done, the highs here are 112
degrees and up.

Which temp sensor? It is possible you could loose it there.
Yes, the ones of us that do our own work have lots of various sized extensions, swivels, and custom wrenches that are ground down so they fit our header bolds.
Also practice and being limber helps a lot.

Definitly needs to be replaced either way. I don't know if you can but try and rent a coolent leak tester thing at Autozone or Oreily's. All you do is stick it to your radiator on top and start pumping it. It pressureizes the system showing you where the leaks are. Hey good luck man. I like to listen to christian music while I'm working on my car it helps me keep the peace in my heart. If not I'd probably have a bunch of missing tools, thrown by frustration.

You could have lost coolant there but its unlikely.
I feel your pain, I am in the process of removing the HVAC (heater core, EVAP core) system from my 94 this weekend. I finally got the entire dash out.
Its been PURE HELL.
