Yes - Those are a good off-the-shelf forged piston...they are lightweight and strong. That is a good price for them too...for LTx heads the -5cc valve reliefs will make your compression to high though.

Re: Are weisco good pistons?

Yeah, the compression would be around 11.4:1 give or take a bit.

Re: Are weisco good pistons?

So does anyone know if they are full floating pins? The pistons that i just ruined were JE SRP that had 5cc valve reliefs and the compression came out to 11.4 The engine ran amazing and with no detonation until I spun a rod bearing that is...

Re: Are weisco good pistons?

I'd rather opt for JE piston's, better service and IMO better quality.
Recently had some problems with a set of Wiseco pistons for a 4 banger where the sides of the pistons showed scuffin' eventhough the block was freshly build and bored/honed.
Wiseco blamed the machinist who has been doing rebuilds and quality work for 30 years, poor service and a bad batch of pistons.

I'd look elsewhere

As far as automotive applications I don't know, but in 2-stroke applications, I know Wiesco pistons are the biggest piles of junk made! They live a little longer if you get them coated, but they are still just a coated turd.

Re: Are weisco good pistons?

Tons and tons of dsm guys run the wisecos and don't seem to hear hardly any complaints. And this is in boosted applications. I still think a lot of problems with pistons might be installation related.

I have never had a problem with them, they are great for the price.

Re: Are weisco good pistons?

Wiseco pistons are the only way to go in a two stroke engine, excellent stuff. I wouldn't be afraid to throw some in a V8.

Re: Are weisco good pistons?

Ha,ha,ha,ha. I think I would rather put a handfull of rocks in there than a set Wiescos in a 2 stroke. A bit unrelated though.
