sorry to annoy you guys with another post of questions, but something odd happened just now. i had to drive the car and brave through the misfire. as I expected, it was misfiring like nothing else at low rpm. then I just floored it, and something popped under the hood. immediatly after that pop, all seemed well and very smooth.
what in the world could that pop have been, and how did it feel like it made things run smoother??

it happened briefly while driving the other day, so it is still not consistent.

what other pigtails bundle with the passenger O2 on 1994(OBD1)?

They seem to have been burnt by header, and wondering if this may be leading me in the direction of my issue.

I dont understand how it can feel like a low RPM misfire while driving somewhere, and on the return trip feel like nothing is wrong, or the other way around. (this just happened) Can the opti be this fickle if it is failing/has failed? I hate to spend about $275 for a new opti, plus the time to change it if it something else.

Look at Shoebox's wiring harness photo to see what circuits are bundled with the passenger O2 wires (knock sensor, starter, PCM ground).

just a quick question. what happens to oil when you pass an electrical current through it?

there was oil on a plug boot and when i pulled it off there was something that looked like oil on the inside of the boot, but it felt like RTV silicone.

plug wires

i know you said that your plug wires are tight but that dosent mean that they will not leak voltage and find a shoter return path. to completely rule this out pop the hood at night and look for arcs near the wires when it starts to act up again. its just a suggestion b/c thats what it sounds like to me. how long ago did you replace them and have you inspected each wire for damage?

wires were replaced about the beginning of last year and have approximately 10,000miles on them. No visual damage was seen to the wires.
I thought that the buildup of whatever it was inside the boot may prevent a spark. But I am no expert and that is why I am here

seems to have started to come back . Just drove it and it was feeling like a misfire under about 2000rpms.
really at a loss here, and getting to my breaking point
It is only on cold starts, then clears itself up and seems to run fine after about 3minutes or so. what could malfunction like that in open loop, and start working after warming up?
guess i'll fork over the money for a scanner or something
